南翔小笼包 · 法拉盛皇后区 · 2006年开业
The Flushing original. Opened in 2006, Michelin-recommended for nine consecutive years. The first soup dumpling restaurant that changed how New York City thinks about xiao long bao — and still the benchmark.
Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao opened in Flushing in 2006 in the heart of Queens' food scene — the culinary capital of New York City. Named after the Nan Xiang district of Shanghai where xiao long bao originated, the restaurant quickly established itself as the city's authority on authentic Shanghainese soup dumplings.
Within a year of opening, Michelin's inspectors took note. Nine consecutive recommendations followed — an extraordinary run that cemented Nan Xiang as not just a Flushing institution, but a benchmark for Chinese cuisine across all of New York. New York Magazine, Eater, Serious Eats, and dozens of food publications named it among the city's best.
The Flushing original remains special. It opens at 8AM for breakfast with organic soybean milk and fried dough — something no other location offers to the same extent. And it stays open until 12:30AM on Friday and Saturday nights, making it the go-to for both early risers and late-night dumpling cravings in Queens.
Open daily from 8AM for breakfast. Late night Fri–Sat until 12:30AM. Walk-in only.
